Principal's Message
August 2025
Dear McKinna Families,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! I am excited to begin another wonderful year together and want to assure you that I am deeply committed to the success and well-being of your child. As a parent of three daughters, I understand firsthand how important it is to build strong, supportive relationships between school and home. Your partnership matters, and I encourage you to become actively involve, whether by joining our PTA, participating in the School Site Council, or volunteering your time on campus. Together, we can make this an outstanding year for every student.
This school year promises to be full of learning, growth, and joyful experiences both in and beyond the classroom. At McKinna, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their highest potential. As a Dual Language Immersion (DLI) school, we proudly provide instruction in both English and Spanish for all students in grades TK through 5. Our 50/50 DLI model ensures that students become bilingual and biliterate while achieving academic success across all subject areas.
To ensure a safe and smooth start to the year, we kindly ask that students are not dropped off before 7:40 a.m., as supervision is not available until that time. For dismissal, our front parking lot will remain closed to prioritize student safety. We ask families to use side street parking and walk up to the front gate to pick up their child. Additionally, our back parking lot has ample parking and is open for your convenience.
Please make sure to update all emergency contact information and notify our front office promptly of any changes to your phone number, address, or designated emergency contacts. Remember, for your child’s safety, we will only release students to individuals listed on the emergency card. Always bring your photo ID when picking up your child.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. We look forward to a successful and memorable school year, filled with meaningful learning experiences and strong community connections.
